Stain Resistance detailed directions

All of our pillow covers are pre-treated with the Vectra #16 stain repellent formula specialized for leather, silk, and cashmere.  This product is non-toxic for wearable textiles and different from any other upholstery stain repellents in the following features:

  • Pre-tested for safety so as not to damage our cherished antique and vintage Japanese textiles that are the focal point of our pillow designs
  • Non-toxic, no fluorocarbons, safe for the environment and safe for skin exposure even in clothing applications (which is what most on the market stain repellents do, while they introduce lingering toxic fumes to the home)
  • The Vectra #16 stain repellent penetrates the entire textile fiber, not just the textile surface (which is what most on the market stain repellents do, while they introduce lingering toxic fumes to the home).  The Vectra #16 Formula safely allows for more protection against permanent stains caused by quickly penetrating culprits, as well as soiling that might initially go unnoticed and penetrate deep into the fibers of the fabric
  • No special chemicals are required to spot clean

Spot Cleaning Directions:

  • Absorb and wipe the spill with paper towel.  Often, this is all it takes and you are completely done!!!
  •  If the spillage is of a smelly substance or having a visible persistent residue after wiping off, dampen a cloth with cold water and a tiny dob of clear liquid dishwashing detergent, squeeze so cloth is just damp (not drenched), and gently wipe down the area in the general direction of the textile threads.  Then, dampen a cloth with cold water only, squeeze so cloth is just damp, and wipe the area to remove all soap residual.  Take a dry towel and press down to dry the area.  Air dry the pillow.
  •  If you suspect that the spillage penetrated into the pillow insert or if you over saturated with water in spot cleaning, remover the spot cleaned pillow cover to air dry and air dry or wash the down/feather pillow insert if it appears stained.  FOR PILLOW COVERS, ONLY AIR DRY BY HANGING. IF IRONING IS NEEDED, USE THE THE LOW HEAT SILK/WOOL SETTING OF IRON WITHOUT STEAM. The pillow inserts can be machine washed in cold and dried on low to medium heat.  Be sure fully dry the pillow inserts before to returning to use.
  • Our pre-treatment of the pillow covers will last for a few years given several incidences requiring spot cleaning and will endure through the normal frequency of dry cleaning.  In a few year years, you can apply this tried & true stain repellent again as needed... http://www.vectraspray.com/vectra16/vectra16.htm

No stain repellent treatment can really guarantee that a fabric could not permanently stain, but this stuff is quite miraculous!!!

  • OCCASIONAL MAINTENACE CLEANING: Recommend professional dry cleaning of the pillow cover.  The down/feather pillow insert can be home machine washed in cold water, mild detergent, no bleach.  Dry at low to medium heat.  Be sure it is fully dry before returning to use.
